Ok I need help! How can I mount a dryer to a wall with metal studs?

Its a compact dryer and it comes with the brackets and everything my husband used this contraption thing that locates the studs when he started drilling he discovered they are metal. He like myself don't know if it is possible to still mount the dryer..Any suggestions? Tips?

  1. Metal studs are same as wood studs.  U have to use self tapping screws is all the difference.


  2. self taping scews but why do you need to mount it? it will give you $#!t when you try to remove it/replace it

  3. You can mount things on metal studs using self tapping screws, but I would imagine there are limitations to the weight it will support. If it is an internal wall you could bolt right through the studs for the stronger job, or attach a sheet of pywood or a batten to the studs as a patteress and then attach the brackets to that.

    The bsest advice would be to check out some drywall sites and look at instructions. If in the UK look at the British Gypsum site - although they are all much of a muchness.

    If this is a rack or something you should be fine, if it is a machine like a tumble dryer I would worry waht the vibration is likely to do to the wall.
