Should I as a normal person take being called the AR mom instride or act like a feminist, scream, rant and rave and threaten to sue unless they change the name?.

  1. Congratulations on your forthcoming s*x change.   I hope you will be very happy.

EDIT:  I should have added ""kudos to you"" for being involved!

    GOOD JOB!

  2. look if i were you id be grateful theyll be calling you a name that can be repeated.anyway i volunteered in a school and was called miss, mrs, sir, dad, mam and lots more by the children.dont worry its the job you dothat is valued not the label it has.x

  3. I don't think you would need to create a fuss.  You are quite aware that you are a man, and the children will be as well.  Once they start referring to you as the AR dad I'm sure that the adults will get a clue and rectify the situation, these situations tend to work themselves out naturally.

Maybe this will enforce the idea that a fathers role is just as important in a child's development as a mothers and people will stop belittling and taking a fathers role for granted.

Good luck to you and your son during this school year.    Enjoy :)

    Edit:

Patois, with all due respect, that was one of the most uncalled for comments I have ever heard.  I am highly offended on behalf of the many wonderful men I know who do not behave in the manner which you so callously assume most men do.  You are doing your cause a disservice by making comments like you just did.

  4. Bring it to their attention.

I am sure they have a keyboard at school and would be happy to change the title if it bothers you.  :)

  5. Yes you definitely have to do something about that, reclaim your testes.

  6. ...i agree with The Mrs - the school will Hopefully see that flaw and change the official title...

i too am surprised but i guess they believe that mothers are more flexible or more available to help when it comes to their children

  7. You should do what you want, but how weird ... You say the kids will call you one thing but the official title is another ~ why would you allow the kids to call you an unofficial title?

Could it be that if you insisted on being called the correct title, you wouldn't be able to have your cake (Oh, I am so open minded I don't mind being called the AR 'mom') AND eat it (in actual fact get called the AR 'dad' and make jokes about being officially known by another title)?

    Cheers :-)

  8. I am sure they will change the "offical title" to AR parent. You'll be ok.

  9. Why couldn't they just say "AR parent?" Even a feminist would just casually mention it to the teacher.

  10. That volunteer position has an *official* title?

    Fancy.

  11. Perhaps the children see you as slightly feminine?

  12. I wasn't aware that men needed an excuse to scream, rant and rave and slug holes in walls and trash hotel rooms and lose their cool and fight each other and storm out of rooms and such.  Around the children, though, you should attempt to be at least as emotionally balanced as a mother, OK?

  13. Yes!  Please do make a drama and have attention drawn to yourself for being segregated via your title!

Your situation underscores the fact that schools are woefully underrepresented by men and this needs to change.  I am tired of hearing  men complain that boys are falling behind in school and yet they do nothing about it (like become teachers or AR Dads) themselves.

    Good Luck.

  14. Why would they call you and AR mom when you are obviously not.  Obviously this is false.  Children would have immediately called you an AR dad.

EDIT- The school will see the flaw and most likely change it to AR parent.  Then it also welcomes step parents and grand parents as well.  Frankly I am a bit surprised that any school hasn't become a bit more PC.  There is usually a huge push for it in most schools.
