Ok I've done loads n tons of research for the past 2 weeks day in and day out. Found out countless things I would have never known. Now I've narrowed it down to a couple species and can't decide which I would be best off first with.

I've gotten my list down to the following-

Blood python

Carpet python

Red tail boa( 1 im leaning to the most)

Rainbow boa

Sand boa

Tree boa

What are the pros n cons of each I wud greatly appreciate the assisstance. So far I like boas much more than pythons I've already spent about 300 jus on the terrterrium. Im home at nite and work from bout 2pm to midnight if tht cud be any help on my choice. Although all are night time active anyways. Thanx for all the help

  1. Of those on your list, the the Red tail would be the best option.  If you never handled snakes in your life, then a corn snake or ball python are the better options.

  2. Carpet pythons are great if you don't mind getting bit by them when they are babies as you tame them. Beautiful animals that get anywhere from 5.5 feet (Irian Jaya) to 10 feet (Coastal carpets).

Tree boas are pretty to look at but can be pretty nippy even into adulthood. Not definite how they will be, but it is one of their endearing "traits"

RTB are pretty neat snakes, but they get big and can POTENTIALLY be dangerous.

Rainbow boa (If you mean Brazilian) are gorgeous animals, BUT they are very sensitive to humidity levels. If you're not practiced at keeping the humidity just right you might have a disaster on your hands.

I'm not really familiar enough with the Blood or the Sand boa to comment.

All in all if I were choosing for myself from your list I'd go with a Carpet python. Most likely either Jaguar Carpet or Jungle Carpet.

Curious why you like the boas better than pythons?

  3. they are all nice snakes i have an dumerils boa redtailed boa and an retic python my fav the boa see in color python does not they eat about the same feed rats not mice boas require higher humidity its realy all up to you good luck blood pythons are nice and i want one its my next one
