I'm 38 wks 6 days and I'm being induced next Wed. I'm sooo nervous because. I had a baby shower today and i was telling my cousin how i was cooking something in the stove. I pulled out the rack out of the stove and well my big belly got in the way and i burnt a line across it. Well then she tells me that if you burn yourself on your belly or whatever that my baby is gonna come out with some burn looking thing or a birthmark on him. I'm scared to death now. Does this really mean my baby is gonna come out with some birthmark on him because of that? Is this true? Did some incident like this happen to you and your baby come out with some birthmark?

  1. Oh, rubbish. How could you believe something like that? And what's wrong with a birthmark?

Surely this isn't a serious question?

  2. It isn't true. there are a lot of old wives tales about birthmarks.  My grandma always told me that if you get scared by something while pregnant your baby would come out with a birthmark in that shape.  My mom got scared by a rat, she woke-up and there was a giant rat on her belly and she was about 7 months along with me and she was so scared I would come out with a rat birthmark.

  3. thats rubbish.

Where on earth did she hear that?

She might be just trying to wind you up ... ?

  4. Hah...Babies come out with birth marks all the time...but i GUARANTEE you that your baby will not have a birthmark because you burned your skin.

  5. Its one of those silly superstitions or Old Wives tales that people like to tell. No your baby will not have a birthmark. He probably had no idea anything had happened at all. You are fine!!

  6. Girly, please don`t worried. No such things as such! When I was a boy, I loved fruits. Many times, accidentally, I swallowed the seeds. Old peoples` made fun of me. They told me the seeds would grow in my body and the trees from my neck.

Really scared the h**l out of me.

Be happy and focus on your new coming guest.

Don`t you believe those stupid expressions.

I wish you good luck and have a baby boy!

  7. Oh golly!

That's probably a really nasty attempt at your cousin tying to spook you.

There is NO logic to that at all! Your baby will not have a birthmark from that at all.

EDIT:If that were the case, my baby will come out with a door frame dent in it's head as a birthmark. Sometimes our big bellies just get in the way!

Oh, and as someone else said, what actually is wrong with a birthmark anyway!?

  8. Wow...seriously..NO!

  9. please tell me you are not serious

  10. no way!!!

no one know what the cause of birthmarks is

  11. ha not true, you burnt your skin not your babies. thats why your developing baby is in your belly so that you can protect it from things like oven burners! ha big bellies are annoying arent they? i bump into things all the time becuase iforget how big my belly has gotten

  12. so not true!

  13. Not true at all! :)

The rack touched your belly, not the baby, so there is no way it's possible that your baby will have any marks because of that.

It would have had to burn through your belly and touch your baby directly to have any effect on the baby, and if that were the case you'd probably be in the hospital right now!

So if your baby has a birthmark, it's a coincidence and nothing more.

  14. No no no you don't get birth marks that way. The baby is protected in your womb and couldn't have been hurt from the burn. If anything you were hurt from the burn and might have a scar later! My daughter has them and she doesn't think anything of them. the most inconvenience I got from her having them was when she was a baby. Hers were on  the back of her head and looked like a bruise. It was really annoying to tell people all the time its a birth mark! I actualy had people accuse me of hurting her because of it. My mom would have to say, "That's a birth mark she had it since day one." Other than that it never has been a issue and now she's ten and you can't see it. Her hair covers it up. She has another an her lower back and she actually likes it. Go figure so don't worry so much  because it will all work out.

  15. I cant see how that would be possible.  The burn you got only affected the outter layer of your skin.  Your baby is well protected inside and several layers of tissue in between the outter dermis and the uterus. I think your baby is going to be just fine--you're almost at the finish line!!

  16. old wives tale and its total rubbish.

my daughter has the exact same birthmark as i do just on the opposite leg but in the same shape -colour and spot.
