Ok a quick question about guitars..?

i was wondering im a new player n all and i was curious as to if you only hit the string your holding down or do u swipes all of them as you play? i have an acoustic if it makes a difference

Electric or acoustic doesn't matter in regards to your question.

Each string you pluck will sound an individual note so if you only want to hear 1 note at a time (a melody line or solo) pick the one string, if you want to hear a chord (group of notes at the same time) then strum them all. Find chord charts online and it will show you where to place your fingers on the neck to "voice" the appropriate chords.

well it depends

if your not playing any open notes then just play the note or notes your holding down

but if you are playing an open note you play the note or notes your holding and play the open note or notes
