  1. Take your birth certificate and your id that you have with the picture and SS #. Just tell them the truth of what's going on and that you have to wait to get your SS card. I would guess they would let you work because they have your SS number and you have ID that shows who you are. Just get them a copy of your SS card and go get a state ID as soon as you can.

Recovery Associate can mean different things for different companies...probably behind the scenes prepping damaged stuff to go back to the manufacturer, receiving merchandise, rearranging the floor...that kind of stuff.

  2. The social security office should have given you a piece of paper saying that you applied for a replacement card. Take that with you and show it to the people at the license branch. They will be able to use that to give you a state I.D. card.

You should have told the lady at Penney's up front that you needed to apply for another S.S. card. If you found out after you talked to them, you should have called them back. They would have been able to tell you whether they would accept the paper from the S.S. office along with your birth certificate and either your state I.D. or the other I.D. card.

Congratulations on the job. Hope everything works out.

  3. Call the store and ask...............

What you have will meet the legal requirements for filling out an I-9 and a W-4 form but if they are asking for something else only they could say for sure.

Since you obviously have not been through orientation, yet, that will be the time to get all your questions answered about work.  At orientation they will discuss policies, procedures, training, job duties, safety, scheduling, paydays & pay-periods etcetera.

ASK questions about anything you don't understand...................

Asking questions is good, it is the only way to learn and get accurate information about your job. Management and your trainers are there to help you so take advantage of that help.

  4. maybe

  5. I would call them and ask them what other forms of picture ID's that they will take. I hire for Chuck E. Cheese and have to tell everyone to bring in the same things they asked for. It is to fill out your I-9 form. I am not sure your age or what state you are in, but in GA we can use a School picture ID or a report card in place of a picture ID. I would still call them ahead of time and ask them or explain the situation to them.

As far as recovery, it is probably going to be putting clothes back on the racks and refolding items that people look at. Good luck and Congrats on your first job.

  6. i'm sure what you have will be sufficient. if it isn't, explain to your manager about your situation, and she'll probably give you some time to get it.

a recovery associate basically recovers the floor. you know how people think they want things and then decide they don't want them and just put them down wherever they are? well you'd be cleaning up that mess. and you'd probably being putting up clothes from the fitting room, and from the registers.

good luck on our first job.
