But I didn't like the way it turned out so tonight I tried to dye it back brown but I guess I bought a colour that was too light cause it turned this reddish brownish color. It wasn't TOO bad so I tried to add some highlights and they turned YELLOW!!! HELP ME!!! Can I just try to dye it back to my natural dark brown and leave it alone for a while?!? I really want highlights but I've learned my lesson I'm going to a pro next time!!!

  1. You damaged your hair enough, when you dye your hair, you are suppose to wait atleast 1-3 months til you dye it again. What I would do now is just go to a professional or just let your hair dye grow out.

  2. I will get the thumbs down for this but I would try a dark brown color.  Your hair is damaged and you definitely need to get a good conditioner.  I recently bleached my hair twice and dyed it twice all in one weekend.  I went from dark reddish brown to blonde (I am a natural blonde)  Needless to say my hair is damaged but not that bad.  You know your hair and if you think it can handle being dyed again then do it.  Good luck

  3. I had a similar problem...I wanted to go lighter, so I dyed my hair a reddish..but forgot that I had dyed my hair a long time ago dark brown and so of course, the red colour took to my 4 inch roots, but not the previously dark hair...it looked so bad!  So then I cut a piece of my dark hair off to re-dye it the exact colour, and it still didn't match!!!  I didn't know what to do - I was either going to go completely black, or see a professional.  Lucky for me though, I have curly hair, and so I let it go curly for 2 months and everyone said they liked my "highlights"...  So I've learned that your hair isn't going to take to new colour right after you've dyed it...  I would either wait a few weeks or see a professional - even if it's just for advice and don't actually do anything.  I'm also a hat person, so depending on your age (younger people can get away with more) bandanas can be cute, wide headbands, scarves tied (I like to roll my  2-3 inches wide and tie it under my hair and have the long piece hang down), cute ball caps (white ones in the summer look hot with a white t-shirt), any cute hats...I did this for the first week until the dye kinda washed out a bit.

    Good luck! :D

Oh yeah - and the worst part of my experience was that I'd tried something like this before - putting blond highlights in dark hair with 1 inch of roots...it seriously looked like a skunk stripe!  But when I redyed it all dark that time, it took well and the highlights were still there a little, but were darker and looked more natural.
