should i buy an 09 yamaha 1100cc v star custom candy red or a newer harley superglide custom? the super glide custom would be almost twice as much. i cant decide on my own and need your input

Well apparently money is not the issue here is it? Now if you have a lot of monry then buy both....!!!

The new Yamaha of course sounds great/ it is a great bike and it will come with a factory warranty. Very hard to beat all that on a balance sheet...dollars and cents sort of thing.......The HD is used....Always a c**p shoot with anything mechanical that you buy........Get it checked out by a trusted mechanic friend or pay to have it checked out. If seller does not allow this then run away form that deal.......

If the HD checks out to be mechanically sound as per the best possible mainteance check then now you really have a problem

Bikes are all about soul and inspiration.HD throws that in for free when you buy thier brand.....Nothing on the road can touch that becasue it does not come from a factory. All makes and all models are very very good bikes. Whether they come from Japan/Germany/Britain or good old USA. BUT only one brand carries the tradition/the aura/the history/the soul of riding out on a desert highway/mountain pass or great river valley at 0600 hrs in the morning.

If you can invision yourself sliding down the Western slope of the Big Horn mountains at 5pm what would you rather have between your legs? THis is what the HD experience is allabout and this is what the others cannot provide. But they are all very vedry good bikes.

Stop at a red light on one of those very very good japanese cruiser and most likely the car next to you will be admiring it, but if they are not knwledgeeble about scooters then more often than not they will ask....Is that a Harley your riding/ On the other hand if you stop at the very same red light the following morning on that HD you are eying, nobody will ask you....Is that a VIrago?

Nothing disparaging here about other makes , but be sure that you will LOVE the bike...you buy

Many many people would love to be in the poisiton that yo find yourself in right now. Not bad at all , not bad at all. Buy them both and enjoy the summer

Yamaha.  Better made bike, plus Harley's today don't keep their value as they once did when they were more popular compared to the Japanese bikes.

The Yamaha is less expensive, needs less maintenance and generally runs better.

The Harley is 'cooler'

buy the yammy  cause then u can afford to fix it and get services people don't take that into account when buying bikes services cost heaps and u have to get shop to do or lose warranty

Kinda of a dealers choice both good bikes But just decide what you want to do with it then weigh one against the other

It all depends on you. The Harley will hold it resell value better, but the V star is better looking IMO.
