Ok follow up to the BM question?

my daughter had now had 5 bm since 8 this morning and my husband just changed her diaper and found a red jelly like substance in her diaper...do we do not want to panic but do we need to take her to the doctor.

Did it look like a fresh blood clot? My daughter got these clots and such when she was having trouble with her formula and therefore trouble with bms. I don't know what is causing your daughters but that is how I described the blood in my girl's diaper- jelly like. It would be best to take her to the doctors to see if it is blood and find the cause. Good luck- hope she is better soon

I would take her in. Call the doctor and as soon as you tell them about the red jelly they should tell you to bring her straight in. I've never heard of that before.

A newborn with excessive BM's is not really a cause for concern...but a 'RED jelly like substance' certainly is! I would recommend skipping the pediatrician and taking her to the ER right away.
