My husband who is a british cit, has been living here for a year. We have gone through all the correct steps with immigration. He has a social security number, a driver's license and he works. He wants to try and esablish credit because of course his ss# pulls up nothing. He's tryed apply for cc but they turn him down. What is his best corse of action to establish credit so he can get a cc and hopefully one day we can buy a house? Sorry for the spelling errors I'm still asleep

  1. get a 'secured' credit card, make regular payments.

  2. Get a small bank loan out first.  Co-sign if you have to.  Pay it off during a period of 6 months to a year.  That establishes a good credit history quickly.

  3. Approach your regular Banker with your requirements and you will be assisted into the same.

You Both should approach the Banker and

Place the facts very clear and precise and comply with the formalities as is warranted.

  4. Have him take out a small loan at the bank where you do business.  You may have to co-sign for him.  Pay this loan off quickly and on time.  This will begin to build credit for him.

  5. When I had no credit. My wife ordered a card for me on her account. We both shared in the good credit that way.

You can put him on your mortgage as an 'owner'. That way he gets credit for that too.

You could buy a car together. He would get credit for that.

Get a signature loan on a joint bank account and pay it back in regular installments.

Go to a rent to own place and get a TV or something and pay it in regular installments.

You might want to go to a bank and talk to a rep. They might have seen this type of thing before. Or check with a bank back in his home country where he has a credit history.

    Good luck.
