The number 53 hasn't been that popular.  Only one person has ever won in Nascar in that number Bob Burdick in 1961 .

Drivers have been Slick Johnson, Jerry O'Neil, Johnny McFadden, Ritchie Petty(not Richard), Tom Sneva , Bobby Hillin Jr.  I don't think it has been in competition since 1994.
