ok i am new to the vw seen. i mostly had honda. now i know some one who wants to sell me a 1996 jetta vr6 with 115000 miles for 1500 its a nice car. someone else wants to sell me a 1995 passat vr6 with 95000 miles for 1500. which should i do. what is the difference? o ya what is the normal gas mileage on the auto vr6

The jetta is smaller than the Passat but it will get better gas milage. I own a golf Gti w/ the vr6 and can get 28-30 MPG on the highway but when I drive it hard only get 17-19 MPG. The Jetta is the more popular car its just which drives better and feels best.

All Vr6 engines need to have the timing chains and guides replaced around 100k and its not cheap at least $1500.00 or 2400.00 at the dealer. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THE DEALER. If you live in or near a big town there should be a shop that specializes in VW's.
