uhh. did russia declare war on georgia? what did they do?

and also... why did food prices go up anyway?

i duno bout the russia/georgia thingy but food prices went up because of the rise in oil prices. The petrol was more expensive and so the people importing the food had to use more money for the petrol they were using and so adding to the price of the food.

they just invaded... not actually declare war.

food prices go up for lots of reasons, especially with the cost of gas going as crazy as it has been, they raise the prices because of the cost of transportation the food all over.  they also do it when there are droughts because the farmers lose lots of crops so then what they do have the price gets inflated to compensate

From what I understand there was no decleration of war, they are involved in insurgency action I don't recall the reasoning, possibly counterterrorist justifications which seems to be the way of the times.  America to Iraq, China to Tibet, and Russia to Georgia, do keep in mind that it is not the American State Georgia but a small country by the same name.  

From what I have been told there were supposed to be peace negotiations going on between the two however Russia has not effected a complete ceasing of ongoing hostilities, it's complicated and it sounds like the U.S. government is being very black and white about the issue, not that I blame them.  However I think complete condemnation is a bad foreign policy.  

As for food prices, I think this already got covered, yeah it's linked to petrol costs.

Food prices go up because everything is linked to the price of gas.  You have to get stuff to the markets somehow.

Democrats enjoy watching us suffer.  They hope it helps their chances in November.
