to obtain my permit but i need to do my first behind-the-wheel in order to get my permit, where do i go to do my behind-the-wheell test? the dmv but i heard that i have to do it at a drivings school

you're in the US right?

to get a learner's permit you have to take a written/theory test at the dmv

after you have the learner's permit you learn how to drive through parents or driver's ed at school then you take the road test at the dmv to get your license.

at least that's what i did
