  1. Korma is probably the mildest. Most curry houses will ask if you want chappati's or rice as part of the meal. Poppadums are usually extra, as are other starters. Good luck, you'll be fine.

  2. Hi,why not ask your waiter for advice,he will tell you exactly what is what,or if you feel a bit embarrassed doing that, try a chicken korma, with pilau rice, the korma is very mild and creamy with a hint of coconut, the rice is just boiled rice with pine nuts and a little fruit in it,poppadums are nice with mango chutney,if having a starter i would say chicken chat is a good bet or samosas.if you are having naan bread my own favourite is peshwari naan this has coconut inside, but you could have a plain one, this is just like a very doughy and tasty bread,or a garlic naan is nice too.I hope this helps and you enjoy your meal .

  3. Why feel stupid?  There is always a first time for everything.  Tikka Masala and Korma are both mild.  Rice etc are ordered separately usually.

  4. when you sit down you dont let the waiter get away.. and order drinks and popadoms..

then read the menu while your waiting for your drinks etc..

Kormas are the mildest dishes but a bhuna or a rhogan is still not hot.. just ask the waiter if the menu doesnt make it clear..

most dishes need a side order of rice  and i like to order a peshwari nan .

If you have a biriani it will come with rice, but if you have a balti it will come with nan..  both dishes are mild.

better yet just ask for a meat thali and you get to try loads of dishes,,..

  5. order a chicken korma with plain boiled rice, and yes you order your rice and everything seperately.

chicken korma is a very mild curry but when you see it it will be yellow so dont be put off by the colour.

    enjoy your meal.

  6. Go for a mild korma...

Rice and poppadoms are ordered separately.

(For a starter a bhaji is quite nice)

Don't worry about it, just enjoy it!

  7. can i come.

  8. Don't worry about it

chicken tikka masala is one of the best; all my non-indian friends lOve this!

you can also try----> punjabi karhi(vegetarian)

poppadums are given regardless of what you order, rice, however, you should ask because it varies depending on the restaurant

  9. Korma is sweet and coconutty or Tikka Massala is nice and mild. You order side dishes seperately if not it normally says on the menu if the dish comes with rice etc. Also, it usually says on the menu whether a dish is mild, medium or hot.

  10. They give you a menu that should explain what some of the foods are. If they got a Chicken Korma, they are very mild. Some restaurants you can choose how hot you want your curry from mild, medium to hot etc. Some Indian restaurants will just give you poppadoms and some sauce as something to just nibble on while your waiting for your meal and others you have to order it. Usually you order the rice, naan bread or chapati etc separate. Also if they have it, Mango Lasi which is a yogurt drink, is really nice. If you can't eat it all, a lot of Indian restaurants will pack it for you so you can take it home.

  11. Indian food is really good, but I think you should ask the waiter or whoever is there to take your order :).

you can also call them by phone.

    mmmmmmm

  12. korma is mild or a biriani the 1st bit is the starter like popadoms and naans and king prawn butterfly then erm the p**i takes your order and you have no idea what hes saying and end up ordering his granny for  ÃƒÂ‚£1 a month

  13. lol, that sounds like me! I had my first curry a couple of weeks ago as I have never liked them in the past but I found a korma to be quite nice, not at all like I was expecting. It is very mild so try that as your first

  14. i ask for the menu, then order omlette and chips, i do not like curry

  15. the menu usually has a spice rating type thing, like it'll be rated from 1-3 'chillies'. you do order the rice etc separately. i love Indian food but i really get anxious in restaurants, especially if I've never been there before, so i understand how you feel. if in doubt ask the waiter to recommend something not too spicy and they'll be happy to help i'm sure.

    have fun :)

  16. Go for a korma it is very mild, with boiled rice, naans and some popadums, you can't go wrong with that.

Tikka masala isn't that spicy either. Good luck. x*x

  17. the waiter will be pleased to help you, they like being asked, don,t let your shyness stop you asking, tell him you don,t want it hot.

I like Birianies , myself, you don, t need any extras with these.

  18. if you dont like hot curry order a korma, this is very mild.usually the curry will come with rice and naan bread and popodums. you will then be able to order extras e.g. onion bahjis, bombay potato etc.

it will all be written down clearly on the menu and if you are unsure of anything ask the waiters they will be happy to help you or recommend something.

please dont be embarrased about asking this questiuon, weve all got to learn somewhere|!

im sure you will love your evening out my husband always said he hated curry and then when went for an indian he absolutely loved it!

good luck hun and enjoy yourself! x*x
