this has been a problem for a couple days, the water is cloudy, and there is about an inch of foam at the top, which goes away if u put ur finger in it, tthe other tank is just starting to get cloudy, will my fish and frogs die or is there something i can do to stop this before they do, should i 1 cycle one tank, then add the fish then cycle the other and add the proper fish to that tank? or anyone have any other suggestions?

  1. It depends on a few things. How old are the tanks? If they are fairly new (0-1 months) getting cloudy/smelly is actually a very natural thing. The best thing to do honestly is do a small water change (no more than 25%), put some beneficial bacteria on a weekly basis, and hope for the best. When you put brand new fish in a tank, they go to the bathroom in water that has no bacteria to break down their waste into ammonia, then nitrite, then nitrate. It just sits in the water until enough bacteria has bred. So what you're seeing is a build up of waste, which is why the first few fish you put into a tank should be "sacrifice" fish, or starter fish. Bring a little bit of your water to a pet store so they can test it for you.

  2. If there's film or foam at the top you must not have a filter. Get a filter or it's gonna stay like this.

A stone filter? I don't know what that is but these filters are great:

    I just bought one.

  3. it sounds like you did not cycle your aquarium

you need a filter and an air pump

  4. I would take your fish and frogs out, place them in a bag in some water like you do when you first bring them home. Call s omeone other than yahoo answers lol, and ask them what to do. Tell them you have your fish and frogs in a safe place at the moment and what you should do with the taks because of the bubling, and cloudiness.
