Ok i have a question about a camcorder(Sony) DCR-HC52?

ok i am going to buy a Sony DCR-HC52 i was woundering this camcorder could be hooked up to the computer and if so what would i need to get to do that? and also i was woundering if this camera is good for a teenager like 16 year old i am going to be using this for personal use and also viedo production. the viedo production teacher said not to get the on that was straight to DVD i did not know why so if you have any more information about theis camcorder i would appreciate it thanks alot
