  1. Well my friend, my advice is to go traveling! you will always be able to save money to buy your TV again, but later, your bro and friends will not be on the way to Costa Rica. Traveling helps you grow, have you learned Spanish yet? Here's an opportunity to go surf some new spots and meet people of a different culture, and see how some people are living in developing countries which makes you way more appreciative of that HDTV.

Have you decided the location of your Vacation yet?

Mal Pais is a great surf spot for beginner to intermediate surfers. Check it out here.

I am here right now and there is really good vibes. There is Great Chicken at Soda Las Piedras, you have to try it. It is near the centre of the beach at Playa Carmen. And the pizza place right on the beach makes pizza in a real cement forno oven!

Nosara is another good option for surfers. If you are coming during the dry season and you are renting a vehicle, you can drive up the coast from Mal Pais to Nosara and hit spots like Playa Camaronel.

  2. I have seen better places for surfing than Costa Rica. Southern Miami, especially Miami, has beautiful beaches and good surfing beaches. I have family in Miami and it is a beautiful place, some of the cleanest beaches are in Southern Florida. If its a once in a lifetime thing that you want to do, i say go for it, i wouldn't. But, that just might be because i'm forced to travel there frequently for work, as i live in the country above it, Nicaragua. I have 2 HDtvs, the biggest is a 52-inch Mitsubishi LCD HDtv, but if i had your choice i would get another t.v. You can easily get a 32-inch for around $600, i got one of those for $500 in 2006, and you can also get a 42-inch for around $1,000, depending on the brand, i think plasmas are a bit cheaper but i wouldn't recommend a plasma, only LCD.

But, you seem to really want to do/get all 3. A simple solution would be to get your t.v., something not too expensive like a 32 or 42-inch and your hard drive (i've seen some 500gb for $170; they are external; internal are cheaper). You can also go with your brother and his friend, depending on what month you plan to go, you might be able to. A ticket from Feb. 1-7 only costs $260.00 (i checked from Jacksonville to San Jose, CR), check out the travel agency's website below. My family uses that one to travel here and they have cheap flights to many destinations in Central, South and even North America and some European countries. They have 2 offices in Los Angeles, give them a call or book online, their number is: (323) 953-9000

Well, how much are the tickets costing you? How long do you plan on being out there? The closest beaches to San Jose are all far since San Jose is located in a valley in the Central region. All beaches are at leas 2 hours away from San Jose. I have stayed nearby the Pacific coast and have head people talking a lot about Hermosa Beach and Jaco Beach, but just google "Costa Rica Surf" and you'll see which suits you and your friends best.
