  1. I know you would get 24 pound for the win but not sure on the place because it would be on different odds for that. They divide the number of bets per horse by the entire pool of money on the race to come up with the odds.

So say the pool is 1000 pounds and the favorite is at 2/1 that means the 500 pounds was placed by people who bet on the race that the favorite would win.

    Hope that helps

  2. Horse Racing is a risky game to play.Jockeys ,trainers have the ability to fix races as to get the winner.Jockeys even some whom are houshold names are especailly dangerously corrupted, fixed races and so at the end of the day, u will lose it all.just see the news of some well known jockeys are brought into court for race fixing.Best not to play

  3. Here in the US, each way would be an exacta bet where you bet two horses to come in first and second and each way would be in any order (horse 1 then 2 or horse 2 then 1).  That would be an exacta box and would cost twice as much as a one way only bet.  Now if each way means win and place (first or second) you would win both bets if the horse won and only the place bet if the horse finished.  In any case the 6-1would only account for the win bet.  The odds for any other bets (place, show, exacta, trifecta, whatever other exotic bet) are figured for those specific betting pools and the odds for those are not usually computed or shown.  Place pools are also confused by what other horse comes in first or second.  If your horse comes in with the favorite you have to share the pot with a horse that had a bunch of money bet on it.  If your horse comes in with a least likely candidate then you share the pot with a horse that had less money bet on it so you're sharing more money.

Hope that helps and doesn't confuse.
