  1. I know how it feels. I remember those days, actually I still have them in all sports I play. You should know that doing all those "punishments" as you call them,  are very good for your body, you'll be in shape in no time and that's always a plus =) I remember when I first started playing vball-my body used to be so sore after practice. Don't worry, it won't last forever! It might feel hard at first, but your body will get used to it. Its great that you aren't going to quit, it shows how determined you are and you must love the sport, way to go! :) goodluck in practice

  2. IF you love the game you will sacrifice your comfort for the ability to play the game. If you don't, then you might as well quit the suffering. Trust me, I've been there, and if you stick with it you will love yourself for it.

  3. well hey if you're really into the sport you just gotta keep going at it. I think your coach is a bit unreasonable if they give punishment for a dropped ball ( allow mistakes and keep trying) *my coach's motto*

seriously if he/she is totally wack get out of it, or keep working hard and

think of it this way, every push up or sit up is helping your body keeping you fit, isn't it worth it if it means you can play?

I know i said this ten times but just keep going at it and like you said don't give up and always give everything you've got

  4. You are right by "not going to quit".

"Punishment" is just one method coaches use to justify who needs more workouts on their body, with the additional benefit of rewarding serious players. If it is for everyone who dropped a ball, it is a fair rule.

If you watch NBA games, you will understand that those who achieve more would need to spend more time in the gym for workout. Middle School coaches are not supposed to put any weight on young bodies, but still need to find a way to get it done. They cannot ask everyone to spend two hours in the gym, so that they "spread out" the workload and ask you to do sit-ups when they feel there is a chance.

At the end of the season, you will see the result and you will appreciate how your coach has been treating you... so bear with your coach, do not complain.

  5. Hey, don't quit! Volleyball is a hard sport to master. Not that

many of us can be very good at it. As for your coach, he/she

should be more patient with you.  Goodluck!

  6. work your hardest. if you know what the future punishment will be then help motivate your team to do well in the drills. dont get mad what ever you do. that will make the team lose confidence in themselves.

  7. UM, GOOD QUESTION.

  8. It sounds like your coach is really harsh, especially for a middle school coach.  I can hardly imagine staying on a team like that.  When you drop a ball, you drop a ball!  Punishing you for it isn't going to do anything.  I'd leave, and when I did, I'd tell the coach what I thought (that is, if he/she is that harsh).

  9. Your coach is trying to make a point.  I use different methods, but I understand the message.  If you do not try, you will face punishment.  If you let the ball drop, you will get punished.  That is not talking about having a ball hit the floor.  You said "lettin the ball drop"  which means lack of communication or lack of hustle.  That is unacceptable.  Hustling and making mistakes is one thing, but not hustling or trying is something else.

As pointed out by several answers, the punishments are actually good for your body.  Keep with the team and you will be in great shape or your team will be very good by the end of the season.

  10. Sometime you may get used to it.  Our coach whips the volleyball at us if we do badly during practice and then if we don't get enough serves over we have to run.  Its hard but it is worth it if you really love volleyball.  The two things that are good about my varsity volleyball is recognition and the love of the game.  If you at least have the love of the game that should get you through!
