Ok i love this name but my fiancee loves another name???

Question

he loves the name Evalet (Eh val et) he's Spanish (from Spain) and i like this name but i love the name Holly.

i some how feel that if i don't go with his name then when the baby comes he wont get as attached to it as he would if we did go with his name. could this be so?

which do you think is better? our last name is Khoury (Cory)

I like Evalet better with your last name, just because Holly and Khoury end kind of the same.  But, maybe you should each think of at least one other name, and then decide after the baby is  born.  Tons of people find that after they see the baby, the name choosing is alot easier.  Sometimes a name just fits.

well holly and khoury have the same ending sound, and to me the sound just clashes. i think evalet is a pretty sounding and unique name.also maybe you could use holly or something similar for the middle name. hope i helped!!!!!!

Personally, I don't like the way that Holly Khoury sounds.

Not bashing the name at all, but the first and last name ending with the same sound seems a bit sing-song for me.

What about Evalet Holly Khoury? That way, both names are used.

What about Evalet Holly or Holly Evalet?  I was trying to see how you could work it out, then I realized that they sound great as a pair!  Holly Evalet sounds a tiny bit nicer, but it works either way, in my opinion.  Holly is better as a first name, because as Holly and Khoury both end in 'y', it sounds too funny.  Evalet Holly Khoury... yeah, kind weird.  But Hulloy Evalet Khoury is gorgeous!

I am friends with this family that MOST of ALL of them go by their middle name... mom, dad, youngest son, a few grandchildren.    Sorry if that thought makes it even more difficult for you!  But I was thinking YOU could call her kids whatever YOU wanted.  I remeber my babysitter had a special name for me ---- while she also waatched other kids and her own 5. { I grew up w/ so many different names that I suddenly began answering to "HEY YOU".}

Wow, I love Evalet.

Holly is fine, and Holly Khoury sounds okay.  But Evalet is so unexpected and interesting, and (I assume) reflects your partner's heritage, too.

Unless, of course, he's pulling Evalet from Evolet, as in the character in 10,000 BC.  That's a bit much.

There are a few similar names:

Eve/Eva

Evangeline

Evadne (from Ancient Greek legends)

Evania (not related to Evan, but sometimes taken as a feminine form)

But I think Evalet would be interesting and sounds just right with Khoury.

Of course, if you really can't agree, it's best to discard both and start over.  :)

Evalet is so beautiful!  Go with that, definitely.  Especially since you have concerns about father/daughter attachment... and these are real concerns.  Fathers don't bond with their children in the same way (right away) as mothers do... some of this is biological reasons (hormones during labor)... but giving her a name that he loves (and is a great name!) will help, for sure.

Evalet Khoury sounds better than Holly Khoury, but I like the name Holly better. Why should he not get as attached because of the baby's name? That's really selfish of him.
