ok so i have an ancestor(great great grandfather to be exact) who was a quantrills raider,i was wondering if that technically makes him a confederate veteran, and if so,does that allow me to apply for a burial marker for him with sons of confederate veterans

Your first step (if you have not done so), is to make sure your research is valid and documented, as to exactly who your ancestor was, AND HOW you are descended from him.  Meaning.. if it is just family tradition/ story that the ancestor was with Quantrill's rangers.. then you don't have documentation.

    Do your basics.

With solid identity, you can then define if your ancestor has Civil War records.  Just because someone was with Quantrill, does not prove that he was not validly enlisted with a "regular" CW unit, or not.

SCV (like any lineage group) requires proof of lineage, in order to apply to join.  Once you have that, and application is approved, then you address the topic of benefits, such as burial marker.  "I KNOW that he was" is not sufficient.

  2. Check this website --it sounds like your ancestor qualifies.

But -- can you prove it?
