  1. I have experienced the same issue.  The batteries used are rechargeable and have been verified as "good" by plugging into the charger and testing in a portable radio.  The connection between the battery and the contacts is solid as it is a spring connection.

Since the TV/remote are out of warranty, I didn't get much assistance from the Sony end other than availability to purchase a new remote.

  2. Are you absolutely sure the batteries were new and installed in the right way?

If yes, then check to see if the batteries are loose. if remotes are dropped often, especially on their ends the tabs which contact the battery can get bent down away from the battery causing no connection to the battery. Make sure you have good contact to the tabs on the remote. You may be able to use a small tool of some sort possibly even your finger nail and bend the tab back out a bit. Be carefull not to pull too hard or you could break the tab right off.

Try cleaning the tabs as well. Just use a Qtip with some rubbing alcohol on it and wipe it firmly back and forth accross the tabs. If that still does not work then I would say you need a new remote.

  3. buy a universal remote or order a replacement from sony is your best bet .
