  1. if you live in bronx ny give them to me.My moms the same way but she loves my pets ill add your turtles tomy pond

  2. thats called animal abuse call 1800 6686868 for kids help phone, and put them in like a rubbermaid container for now id ***** at ur mom be like wow ur a r****d of a mom..

  3. I dunno about child abuse but BOTH what your mom did AND what your sister did(by letting their tank get so dirty and not taking care of them) is ANIMAL ABUSE.

Rehome the turtles, they need a better home.

  4. It's called animal abuse. Your family doesn't deserve pets if you aren't willing to take care of them and treat them that way.

Air freshener should never be sprayed near an animal. It could effect the water in the turtle's tank...not that it matters now.

  5. 1.) Chaild abuse = harm done to a human child. So it's not child abuse. It's animal abuse.

2.) They're your sister's turtles but she never takes care of them... then they're not really hers. They 'belong' to whoever is responsible enough to take care of them properly.

3.) If nobody is responsible enough to step up and take care of the turtles, why do you keep them? If you can't or won't care for them, contact a reptile rehabilitation group. Not caring for a pet is neglect.

4.) Is your sis really old enough to know how to care for them properly? If she's not, help her out. Be a decent brother and show her how to be responsible for them rather than taking the "I don't have to" route.

5.) Your mom reacted harshly. Was there more to this argument?

If your family wants to keep the turtles and is willing to be responsible for their care, put them in the tub until you can find another tank. If nobody wants to take the time to care for them, please call a reptile rehab group or animal shelter. Pets don't belong in homes where nobody wants to take care of them.

  6. It's not child abuse.  It's animal abuse and I can only hope that someone else takes on the turtles or adopts them.  I hope someone in your family is responsible enough to let this happen.

    1) The turtle wasn't being taken care of in the first place.

    2) It's darn lucky the turtles shell didn't crack.

    3) If it did crack someone may not have noticed and it could be in a lot of pain.

    4) Sadly the turtle will probably end up dying in the end unless someone else adopts it so it can be properly cared for.

Do the right thing -- convince your mother to give away the turtle to someone who cares and knows what they're doing.

  7. what are you doing with the turtles now? Did they get hurt?

That is animal abuse and not much you can do.

I guess you'll have to buy a tank yourself  or give them to someone who can afford to buy all they need to get big and healthy.

The bigger the environment the bigger the healthier the turtle. Remember 10 gallons for every inch of turtle. I have used kiddy pools and plastic pond liners from most nurseries and worked great.

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light UVA/UVB for 8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that they need to grow. So that means getting a turtle dock also.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

Total Body length: 5-8" average, up to 12 inches max. Life span: 15-25+ years

Males have the longer front nails and are used in mating. And are considered mature at about 5 yrs old. You can’t start sexing till about  3” across.

You need a good filter system! Gravel larger than they can swallow.

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily drop 20 or so in the tanks and watch them disappear in a few days!

This way when they swim for their dinner they get exercise also!

They sleep at the bottom of rivers, streams. lakes or ponds or your tank to avoid predators like coyotes,  foxes, owls, hawks, possums, raccoons and even some wide mouth bass.

TOSS in a bird cuttle bone in the water for calcium. it will dissolve real slow and if they eat it that’s fine!!

They can have garden worms, meal worms, crickets, flies, crayfish small frogs, dragon flies and  anything that moves only as a treat.

They need leafy greens Romaine, Butter lettuce. (Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any other leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 3 to 4 times a week.

You probably already know that they get sick easily, shell rot, respiratory sickness, lopsided swimming, coughing, blowing bubbles from their nose.

**Swollen cloudy eyes means lacking in Vitamin A. Which we all need for good eyes. Google ‘vegetables with Vitamin A.

    I wish you luck.

  8. Wow. What a degenerate. Poor turtles. =(

  9. wow your mom is a b*tch.... Call DCF on her, she probably treats you guys the same way.

  10. no, not child abuse. It's 2 things. turtle abuse, and menopause.

  11. Technically that's animal abuse, but it's just as bad.  I'd call the police on your mom, and get those turtles somewhere safe, like a friend's house, reptile vet, or even a shelter!  You and your sister don't need to live with someone who thinks it's acceptable to do that to family members, either!

  12. ok yo you should prolly just take the turltes in a contaner and see if your friends can take care of them, if not take them to a shelter, i doubt your mom isn't going to do that again

  13. Its not child abuse but it is animal abuse

  14. no thats not child abuse because turtles are not people. it would be animal abuse. your family seems like white trash btw

  15. Sounds like none of you should have pets!

  16. oh good heavens... so mom is acting like a spoiled brat and throws a fit and brakes the tank and possibly cuasing harm to anyone that has to clean it up not to mention the turtles... way to go MOM , very mature....

so sorry your mother did that... maybe put them in the tub till she gets a new tank??
