  2. Most likely explanation... there is a content code on the DVD. Some DVD's have codes on them that says there is adult content (18 or older, s*x and/or violence, language) on them. Many players have child lock-outs on them. This keeps children that don't know the lockout password from playing adult movies. The player simply checks the DVD to see if the code is present, and if it is, asks for the password before it will play. If you don't know the password, and it hasn't been changed from factory default, you should be able to find it in the owner's manual. Typically, it will be a 4 digit number like 1234 or 0000. If you don't have the manual, you will probably have to find it online or ask if someone has that info. If you go into the set-up of the player, you can turn the child-lock off, though you will most likely need the password to do it.
