right now im thinking of getting it painted liek semi-gloss dark red body and the roof and the parts that hold the rear windshield in painted pearl black. and the other is painting it all metalic light navy with the original 'The Judge' stripes on the side pannels.

Black and red - http://www.gtoalley.com/gtopics/71gtomg.jpg

the stripes on the side pannels on that are the ones that would be on the blue one

  1. with it being a gto judge i personnally would paint the car the original colors.

  2. You need to paint it with whatever colors came on the car. Check the VIN numbers. If your paint doesn't match your VIN number you will lose resale value, but I'm sure you already knew that. So paint it stock colors!!

  3. I suspect you don't have a real Judge? Because owners of real '71 Judges know their value and rarity and tend to paint them the original colors, if not the original for the year. Check out this one in a rare color on eBay:

Aztec Gold is not a color that has aged well to our current sensibilities, but I applaud the owner for keeping it stock and not paining it Lucerne Blue like they all seem to be.

Also, the color of the stripes is dependent on the color of the car - I believe there were 3 or 4 choices. A buyer could override the default selection and pair different stripes with a color, which is rare but I've seen it a few times. The coolest one I recall is a white Judge with the green stripes.

GTO Alley is one of the worst GTO sites ever . . . don't rely on it for facts. The Ultimate GTO Site is better, but it's still far from factual. Go to performanceyears.com and look for the Judge room and you'll find knowledgable guys who can help you whether you keep it stock or not.

    Good luck!

  4. It is paint, do what is in your heart! You could always paint it back to factory colours later on.
