  1. oh yes its a sport, i know this becuz i shoot the game between 4 and 8 hours a day and play competion. also i tried something one time while i was playing, i attached one those walking meters to my belt to tell me how far i walk around the table, on average i was walking 3 to 4 miles a day just playing pool and i also sweat a little too, if ur really serious into the game of pool like other sports it takes a lot of knowlege, practice and hard work to be a champion in this sport. it also can be played for fun just like any other sport. if this was not a sport anyone could pick up a cue and run out 50 racks in a row and be a champion, or pick up a football for the first time and run three touchdowns in a row, this is very unlikly. like all sports it takes a lot of hard work, time and practice to get anywhere in the sport of billiards

  2. nope its not, its a hobby. golf isnt a sport either.

  3. I say it's a sport. The amount of pysical exertion involved may be minimal, but that's true of a lot of other sports. The tactician in an America's Cup race doesn't do anything but give the helmsman advice, but no one says the AC is not a sport. I could say the same thing about golf or archery or any number of other sports. It's really just a matter of semantics.

  4. nope!!!! not really...

  5. thats true but its still fun

  6. what sport

  7. Of course it's not a sport.  If you don't sweat it's not a sport.  It is a fun game to play just like curling or bowling.  If you can play the game while being over 300 lbs. it ain't a sport.  Although NFL linemen fit into that category, they sweat like pigs when they have to move.

  8. Funny, I was actually just pondering this exact question about 10 minutes ago.  A potential student of mine posed to me the same question.  To paraphrase the American Heritage Dictionary, a sport is "...an activity involving physical exertion and skill, governed by a set of rules and customs, often played competitively...".  By this definition, the main debate over billiards being considered a "sport" will be how much "exertion" is involved.  Exertion implies strenuous activity.  It's somewhat relative.  I know that most people only play for an hour or two, but it can be very fatiguing to play a marathon match, say for 6 hours or longer.  Regardless if it's a sport or a game, I love it with all my heart.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

P.S. "uao621" should get the points.  Great answer!

  9. Pool?  Nope.  Not a sport. It's a leisure game.

Next think you know, Candyland will be a sport.

  10. Hey everybody!  Josh doesn't think Pool is a sport.  Maybe we should all stop playing it and take up aerobics or something more worth while.

  11. Snooker is defenitly a sport!

  12. Pool and snooker is a sport just like curling!!!!

  13. i'm sure there are a lot of great players who doesn't know or even care if this is a sport or not ... what i know is, you need both physical and mental toughness when you play ...
