Ok~me and a co-worker are having a disagreement ?

OK He doesnt believe boxers prolong fights, I say that boxers make fights longer ,just for show~i think fighters hold back alittle so that it makes for a better bout ~and gives the fans a good show! what do yall think?

There have been alleged cases of fighters prolonging fights for various reasons.  It's been said that Johnson agreed to carry Stanley Ketchel in their championship fight and that Ketchel double crossed him.  We may never know the real truth concerning that one.  Muhammad Ali was angry at Ernie Terrell for refusing to call him by his Muslim name and tortured him allegedly for the full 15 rounds.  Many believe he could have stopped Terrell any time he wanted to but prolonged it to punish Terrell.  It is also alleged that Ali was also angry at Floyd Patterson calling him Clay and tortured him for several rounds before finally knocking him out in the 12th round.

naa in the fight game you dont get paid for overtime,believe me if he's on the floor the one thing you're saying to yourself is please don't get up i'd like an early night.

Some fighters might not have KO power & they hold & try to make it go the distance.   But I don't think they don't throw punches with all their might so they don't finish a guy early.   I've never seen Mike Tyson prolong a fight.   I think it depends upon the two fighters styles & if they think they can take the guy out quick or not.

Most of the time the fight is prolonged, this is to make it a better fight for the fans, most fans arnet going to spend alot of money to watch a fight to see a guy Ko in under a minute.... The fight is prolonged.

I depends on the fighters style. If their aggressive and want that KO, they throw down. If they're defensive of course the fights prolonged but not so much as for a show, but a highly defensive fighter is less active and throws less punches which usually makes for a longer fight.Winky isn't putting on a show. Just my opinion.
