this was my last question.

now i have been told that most of the cat food in the supermarket is low grade , now i buy the most expensive stuff (sheba) but i live in the UK and i have only been recommended US good quality foods.

so can anyone recommend a really good UK brand and where i can buy it from ?

my cats are used to a mix of sheba, whiskas and sainsbury organic and iams and whiskas dry supplemented with fresh meat and fish.

except for one of my cats who is addicted to dry food ( we got her from the shelter that way) so were trying to change that.

  1. I have a cat that only eats dry food-I've recently changed him to Iams Nature's Wellness as it contains more than 30% chicken, and it is the main ingredient. it's also very affordable and on sale in Asda. I also supplement his diet with chicken and sometimes fish-sorry I don't know about the wet foods

  2. I don't live in the UK but the best way I found to get my cats to drink more was to buy them a pet fountain. And for the record Whiskas is one of the absolute WORST cat foods you can feed your cats. Also for the record expensive does not always mean good quality. My suggestion would be to ring your vet and ask for his/her dietary recommendations.

  3. you can buy good quality pet foods from the vets. they normally sell IAMS and Purina which are the best brands.

  4. I don't live in the UK, but if you read the label of the IAMS, the 1st ingredient I find, is broth, not meat..here in Missouri, the Purina Pro Plan contains the most protein, next would be Fancy Feast..I pay 80 cents per can for the Purina and 50 cents for the Fancy Feast..I can buy the fancy feast at Wal-mart or my local grocery, it contains about 30 % protein which I have found is good for the animal...good luck, hope this helps

  5. Hi, My cat only eats Sheba so you have my sympathies because it's soooo expensive. It is a fairly decent quality though.

Sainsburys do a fantastically good quality food with at least 14% meat compared to Sheba's 4% for a lot less money. It's called Deliciously meaty/fishy.

Tesco also do a similar food to Sheba for less than half the price called Tesco Superior. Unfortuantely, my cat will still only eat Sheba though. Can't get enough of that swordfish.

Hope this helps as I had the same problem with everybody being in america. I was very confused at people saying not to let your cat out incase it got eaten by a coyote!!!
