Ok on vista when i log in it says welcome then after that it goes to a blank screen for about 2 minutes?

If it is a black screen, it just means it is loading up. If you did, what software did you install just before the black screen started to come up. Uninstall this software or remove it from start-up applications, it is probably causing a long load up.

I had a related problem with Vista. My screen goes blank BEFORE the welcome log-in screen appears.   It has to do with you display setup.  Check first whether your display driver is update.  Find the exact specs for your display card (ATI or Nvidia) and go to the website to download the correct driver.  If you are low on computer RAM, it might also cause the problem

My screen still goes blank, but for only about 2 seconds or so.

Do you turn your computer off properly all the time?

If i 'press and hold' the power button to switch my PC off (Only do it when it crashes etc.) it'll take longer to start up because its re-opening the programs you were using at the time of when you shut it off
