Ok people tell me which digital camera is better: Canon S5 IS or Sony H7?

My camera has 5.1 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and some digital zoom, but it seems to impress everyone with the quality of the pictures it takes ... like magic.

Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD display. Would suggest that you find one that has an optical view finder because the LCD is almost impossible to see in bright sun.

That looks like a good camera, but would probably go for for this camera. FUJIFILM - FinePix 10.0-Megapixel Digital.  Only $249 at Walmart or Best Buy.  This is a more camera for less money.

Check Walmart and Best Buy for prices. The people at Best Buy can give you really great advise and good prices.

The second link will help you learn to clean the camera and battery contacts on any camera you buy. Digital Cameras require lots of power. If the contacts are not really good it can cause lots of problems. This is really important.

I have an S5 IS.

I really like the thing and highly recommend it for anyone who wants to take quality photos. At 8 mega pixels and a 12X telephoto lens this camera is hard to beat. There is a lot of opinions concerning the digital zoom but with this camera, it works fairly well. I've taken a photo of a 12 foot diameter clock on our local courthouse at over a mile away and I was able to read the time.

The LCD display is one of the IS S5's best features. You can turn it and flip it. This will allow you take photos from many angles that would be nearly impossible for most other cameras.

There are disadvantages to every camera and the IS S5 is no exception. It's a little bulky. But you can hold on to the thing very easily which makes for some steady shots even while driving. But we don't do things like that do we?  The lens cap doesn't stay on very well either.

Battery life is very good and this camera takes 4 AA batteries. My avatar photo was taken with  a S5 IS .

The S5 IS has a little brother, the Powershot SX 100 IS.

Less expensive, but limited in a few features. Nevertheless a good camera in it's own right. I use the Powershot SX 100 the most due to it's compact size. Although I am disappointed with the short battery life.
