With in a couple of days you should start. If you don't and you don't want to talk to your mom about it go see a doctor.

Brown discharge could be discharge with old blood in it. It may have been trapped up inside your uterus and is only just coming out.

1. You could start your period very soon- like today or in the next few days.

2. Wear pantyliners. They are thin and designed for days like this. Pads are thicker and are meant for absorbing a larger amount of blood.

3. When your period does start, use pads not tampons. Pads are easier to use and you'll have enough things going on getting used to your period besides worrying about using tampons.

4. After you have had your period for a while (6 months or more) then you could try using tampons.

5. Start with a mini or regular size. Although the name relates to flow amount, these tampons are smaller in size.

6. Use a tampon applicator to help get it inserted right. If you can still feel in after you have inserted the tampon, then its not in far enough. Take it out, have a breath and try again.

  I know that it sounds gross, but does the discharge have a really fowl oder? If it is then it is probly an infection. Normally if it was your period then the color would be like some shade of red, but usually not brown.

It also could've been spotting. thats when you get some blood in your panties for just a couple hours. The flow isn't continuous, and it doesn't last very long..... if it is spotting then you should be expecting your period soon. (periods normally come with mood swings, cravings, sometimes cramps, and other strainge behavior, so just think if you've had any of that.) good luck:(

Brown discharge could mean you have an infection. I would ask your doctor or tell your mom to make an appointment to see your doctor. If it is discharge. If not then it may also be old blood and could be your period!

carry some pads around with you just in case!
