I heard on the radio today that in SO.CAL a tree lover was forced to cut down his tree. Because it was blocking his green living neighbor's solar panels.

Some one made this up right.

  1. Not a joke but sad just the same. Cut down a tree? Seems like a waste to me.

  2. Wonder what kind of tree it was?  Some trees only support a few species and others loads.  Hope is was the first type.  Maybe he will have to plant one that isn't so tall and supports a larger number of bugs, birds and the like.

  3. California's Solar Shade Control Act protects solar panels from obstructions from sunlight, and in January, Santa Clara County officials sought to enforce the law against homeowners who themselves are staunch environmentalists. Since the back yard of Prius-owners Richard Treanor and Carolynn Bissett contains lush redwood trees that block their neighbor's panels, the county ordered that the trees be cut down. 4. i seriously doubt that this is a joke. our government is becoming notorious for making ignorant decisions such as this. these types of decisions are becoming far too common in the u.s.

if he was smart he would have cut his tree down at just the right angle to have it fall on the solar panels. if the tree was tall enough to block the solar panels from receiving sunlight, the tree probably could have been sold to a logging company for enough $$ to pay for the smashed solar panels depending on the type of wood.

    have-a-loving-day!

  5. This should have been appealed immediately. The trees were there before the solar panels were. Just because a homeowner erects his solar panels in the wrong place should not make it incumbent upon a neighbor to lower the value of HIS property.
