  1. i see it but not as much

  2. It could happen... it looks as though its finally main stream now, and for a while it has been said many times, although I still have a hard time seeing it, that it will replace boxing. But even if it doesn't  I can Imagine it will just continue to get even more popular, and I wouldn't doubt it would one day make it to the olympics.

  3. The ancient Greeks did.  In fact they fought to the death in the nude.

There are already several martial arts in the Olympics:

    Judo

    Boxing

    Wrestling (freestyle and Greco Roman)

and if you include the ones that are not full contact as martial arts:

    Tae Kwon Do and Fencing

I think that the the fan base wouldn't be large enough, and if MMA was included, it would pull audiences from the other games.

  4. I believe it will be a sport within the next 24 years and here is why:

It combines sports that are already in the olympics such as Martial Arts, Wrestling, Judo, Juijitsu, Sambo, and Boxing. It's exciting. And finally, it was part of the original Olympics... it makes sense.

  5. Heck yes!! But realistically not for a long long time until it becomes a lot more mainstream and the average spectator can watch it and know what's going on action wise. Stand up is easy to pick up visually but the ground game is where a lot of people have no clue what's happening whether it's a sweep, transition, etc. Does anyone know how to petition the Olympic Committee??? haha.. seriously..

  6. yes. It's the fastest growing sport in the WORLD.

  7. Actually. Your question is no longer an issue of it being or not being. It has become a question of when.

MMA was the most petitioned sport for the 2008 Bejing Olympics. In fact, the petitions for it heavily exceeded all the other petitions combined (that's saying alot since over 1000 nontraditional sports and forms were petitioned for the recent olympics.).

I would say within the next 4 olympics, and if MMA continues on its snowballing rise in popularity, that it is entirely feasible that MMA will enter the olympics.

Its pretty much a gimme. They would have done it for this olympics but at the time pending approval it was not popular enough and was (and still is) logicistically complicated to come up with a good rule set.

MMA would definitly be a part of the olympics if MMA orginazations evolve toward freeing up their contract fighters to fight in other leagues (such as the olympics). One organzation that is representative of this is M-1. Another organzation that works coounterproductive to this movement and is thus receiving harch criticsm is the UFC.

MMA despite is apparent popularity is being given more time to evolve before it becomes an olympic sport. Otherwise the olympics are ready for this sport- afterall its a sport that already garners more popularity that other sports which do participate in the olympics.

Ty. and i hope this helps.

  8. I would love to see it. It would be the most exciting event hands down. Because lets face it, the olympics with alot of their rediculous events is pretty much a snorefest right now.

  9. maybe, with all the other kinds of sport fighting that thave been around like shoot fighting and pride and all that.

  10. OK....

    So where's the serious question?

  11. I think it will not be too long until it becomes part of the olympics.

  12. No.  Too much money in it and it's still too "North American" which is why baseball was booted.
