  1. Make sure you are conditioned and husstle. DON"T WALK. cheer on others! have a good attidude. hit the ball straight and try your best....

  2. just practice, practice, practice. that's my main advice, because practice really does make perfect. just work on bumping, setting, and spiking right in your back yard. if you have a good wall to do this on, try bumping the volleyball to yourself. practice getting down into your platform so that it becomes your second nature. also, coaches really like fast and powerful serves, so keep working on that. Volleyball is hard work, but to be good, you have to work hard. here's a site with some hints and tips  that might help you perfect your act.

btw-before your tryouts, make sure you have eaten a good healthy meal about an hour or so before. This will give your body energy that it will need during tryouts and you'll feel better too. make sure you dont eat right before tryouts or you'll feel like throwing up, because your food will not have settled. good luck!!!

  3. Well hopefully have been playing as much as possible. I am not sure what level try outs you are talking about, but if it is a school team to be most competitive you need to be playing club ball in the off season. Not sure how competitive your try outs are. Besides working on your basic skills (especially passing and digging if you are young) you need to go out and give your all for the entire try out. Don't be afraid to dive and go for it as hard as you can. I made a team once because I never quit and kept going the whole try out even though there were some girls better then me.

    Good Luck.

  4. hmm my tryouts started yesterday,

As far as things to work on..

--get a vball and pass it to someone or on a wall its perfectly fine. make sure u have a good stance and u aren't too stiff.

--on the wall work on setting, make a diamond with ur fingers at ur forehead and push outward towards the ball. like superman. um then work on spiking.

--practice jumping as high as u can. then do ur approach. THEN add the ball. hav someone toss or set it to you.

--for high school u shud try to hav an overhand serve so try to get it the way ur most comfortable making as many in bounds as u can.

running...i hate it....anyways its high school and they want their most dedicated players so conditioning is key for them to figure out who REALLY wants to be there. and they will probably run u the most during the tryouts. so everyday try increasing the amount u condition because its important.

and last but not least do LOTS of ab workouts and arm workouts....more ab then arms tho. do crunches and stuff. and also stretch alot. before and after u workout and practice but also in between it is important to have good flexibility.

im sure if uve played before then u can handle it but if not then.... u prob shud hav been preparing longer. wen u go into the tryouts be ready for anything the coach will make u do. have a smile and RUN EVERYWHERE haha

    hope this helps

    =D
