And I already have the RCA Cables and Power cord and ground cable hooked up. All I need to connect now is that little one to tell it to turn on and off, right? Well I have a 1999.5 Jetta( mk4) and I had to run all the wires through the center consule because the trim doesnt come up. I looked itup and someone said I need to splice into fuse slot 31 to due that. Is there another way?! My slot is taken and I dont have the tools to create a fuse/circuit for the wire in an empty engine on/ audio on circuit. O and I have an aftermarket Head Unit. Alpine CDA-9854 if that has anything to do with it.

  1. Little blue wire in back of your head unit...just run a wire from that to your amp and you will be set.

  2. You're talking about the remote wire. Are you saying the person told you to put the remote wire in fuse slot 31? If so slap him. That's just stupid. Especially since your Head unit has a separate wire on the back of it for remote. Look at the wiring for your head unit, and find the remote wire, hook it up to that, and you're golden.

Are you sure you have everything wire correctly? As if your head unit has RCA outs on it, it has to have a remote wire as well. As the whole purpose of the RCAs outs are for an amp, and if there's no way of turning on this amp, the RCA outs would be useless.

Are you sure these are RCA outs, not ins? As I don't know that exact head unit, so I cannot tell you.

Anyway, if you check your wiring, and your installation manual,  and they are RCA outs, and it still doesn't have a remote wire, if it were my vehicle, I would splice the remote wire into the accessory wire for the head unit, that way you don't hack up the wiring in the car, which I hate doing. That way the only time the amp is on, is when the head unit is turned on

  3. In order for you amp to turn on and off you have to connect your amp remote wire to the 12volt ignition wire behind the head unit.Which is the Gray/blue wire that goes into your alpine head unit .This site should help you identify the wires color and their function : http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/ster... . when you locate the wire splice it and connect the remote wire ,which is the one you are connecting to the amp.Do not disconnect the wire from the head unit.

basically what 12volt ignition wire means is that whenever your ignition is off, the 12volt ignition wire (Gray/blue) does not have any voltage on it, and when the ignition is on the voltage on the wire is switch to 12volt , which makes your amp switch on and off.

    Good luck
