I got these 2 small 4inch white ribbon plants to put in my 5 gallon terrarium. My terrarium has soil part and a water part. and a small rocky part...

So i have a palm plant that is in the soil on one side. then i have an ivy that is in teh water and so then i have these white ribbon plants i just got today. and they are sitting in a cup of water right now. So i am wondering, what is the best place for them to be located? also they will not be fully submurged in water, either in the soil or barley in the water for the roots to be covered in. or in the rocks...

SO what should i do??? lol sorry if this was too much info.

Also will the white ribbon plants grow bigger? and maybe make more plants? or will it just be the two of them? Will they grow bigger atleast??

Thanks soooooo much!!

  1. Plant them near the water, but not actually in it.  These are terrestrial plants, and their roots will rot if kept underwater.  They'll get fairly big and will require trimming, but for other plants, consider species of cacti to plant farthest from the water, and things like Java Moss that will work as long as they are kept damp.

EDIT: Put a glass cover on the tank and keep the tank warm.  This may mean putting a small under-tank heater.  You don't need a specific humidity, but daily mistings (both the plants and soil) will definitely help, as will the heater.

EDIT 2: That should be fine, but make sure it's using a full spectrum bulb so the light will actually be usable by the plants for photosynthesis.
