Last year my bf had our home phone service shut off because we both have cellphones. Well, a week or two after the service was shut off we started receiving phone calls on our phone line at the house. My bf swears there is no phone service at all at our house. Well, when you try to dial out a recording comes on saying there is no phone service on that line and to call your local service provider to set up service. BUT, just last week we started getting calls on it during the day. Well I am the only one home during the day. Most of the calls have been telemarketers and recordings. BUT a few days ago I finally got an actual voice person calling so I was finally able to ask what number they dialed and I wrote it down. I called it back and sure enough it rings in our house we can receive calls BUT not make calls. Anyhow its not the same nbr we originaly had on that line either. I called AT&T/Pacbell and they show no service on that line. Can someone help me figure out whats goin on

  1. it sounds to me like there is a mix up at the phone company...

if you are not going to use your phone.. just unplug it... then you wont even hear it ring

make sure that the phone company isnt going to charge you for the incomming calls that you have had.

  2. Something must be getting crossed... Call AT&T again, and as the oprtator to call you back on that house number. The operator should be able to figure out what's up. If they say that can't do that, ask for their supervisor, maybe they can help. Good luck!
