I'm afraid of heights very much so. I would like to one day very soon fly somewhere overseas...I have a terrible fear of the plane. However I have flown in a helicopter twice in which I was nervous the first time and enjoyed it the second time. I just cant cross over from the helicopter to the plane....any suggestions?

  1. overseas, like-Canada

  2. sedation!

have ur doctor give you anti-anxiety meds. and youll be juuustt fiiine ;)

  3. you should go up to a small local airport, pay maybe $50 dollars and get taken up in a small airplane. If at anytime you feel sick or scared just let the pilot know and he or she will take you back asap.

If you give me the city you live in i can give information on the nearest small airport

  4. Go with someone you care for, so you don't feel alone, and get your doctor to prescribe a tranquilizer for you to take before the flight.

Alternatively, you can get to Europe via ship.

  5. Looking down at the ground from an aircraft is not the same as looking down from a tall building, after 1000 feet , it all looks the same, just the houses get smaller as you go up.

  6. As an ex helicopter crewman I can truly say that the danger in a helicopter is many times that of a commercial airliner. I would get an aisle seat and ignore whatever is going on outside. However on a trip back from the Bahamas a couple of weeks ago we flew through a storm and my wife wanted to jump out of her seat and run somewhere in the turbulence. I just remembered what I learned in flight training about the wings being stressed 100 times what they would ever be subjected to and relaxed. These airplanes are twice as safe as they were ten years ago. There has not been an aircraft disaster since 9/11. Relax and enjoy the ride. I am headed for Paris in May. I fly over in one day. It would take two weeks in a ship. My time is more valuable than that.

  7. Been flying nearly forty years. Scared to death of heights.
