first of all, the mayan calander ENDS in 2012. and also, in the 1500's nostradamus (an astrologer that has had MANY predictions come true), shows that the world will end in 2012 (i don't feel like going into detail as how it leads up to that, you can do some reserch). And guess what, the year 2012 is when the next president of the united states campaign will end. So that could either mean the next president (2008-2012) will take part in causing the end, or the president that gets elected that same year (2012-2016) will. what do you think? please no harsh comments, i just want to know what everyone thinks of this and 2012

  1. How can you not expect harsh comments after this totally unsubstantiated rant?

First, most people would agree that you have misunderstood the mayan calendar.

Second, even if the mayan calendar was meant to be interpreted the way you have, what makes you think that the mayans were correct?  What's wrong with the Gregorian or Julian Calendar, or the Jewish or Muslim calendar?  Why aren't those correct?

Third, there is no indisputable evidence that  Nostradamus' prophecies came true - usually it's a matter of people trying to make history fit his alleged prophecies.

Fourth, tying in the president of the United States with the end of the world is a somewhat egocentric world view.  The U.S. is not the center of the universe, no matter how much some of us may wish that.

To sum it up, I wouldn't worry about it.  If the world does end, it won't be because of the Mayans, but because of our own stupidity.

  2. The 2012 thing is a bunch of BS if you ask me.

  3. Only God knows when the world is going to end...not some Mayan Calander...look what happend in 2000...nothing. Everyone was running to buy backup batteries, generators, extra food (beans, flour, botteled water and such). What little faith and hope that people have. I'm not worried about it.

  4. With all respect, end of the world at 2012 sounds like a big load of bulls**t. ;)

  5. Well it can mean that McCain will be voted into office and if that happens I'll kill myself... Or the Oreo will win and put things back on track for the most part and when '12 comes around a republican will be voted into office again and once again everything will go to h**l. Thats my theory to your question. In the end, it can just be that the world will end in '12 for whatever reason regardless of president. I think I'll go w/ that :).

  6. I think there is some validity to the 2012 theory. Not necessarily the 'end of the world' as in everything ceases to exists, but rather the end of the world as we experience it (ie, a shift in consciousness, etc). Apocalypse means "lifting of the veil" not "total destruction" as some people mistakenly believe.

I'm not a big fan of Nostradamus, but there are others who also predicted 2012. For example, Terrence McKenna also predicted something very similar using the "I Ching".

"Some say the end is near, some say we'll see armageddon soon. I certainly hope we will. I sure could use a vacation..."

  7. The world isn't gonna 'end' in many many years. It's probably going to end in a different way. Not literally!

    Think about it ;]

  8. Nostradamus has also been wrong on many thing but has also sued symbols in many of his predictions.  maybe the end is just a symbol for something else rather than what it is thought to mean.

  9. i feel that a huge part of the reason why life will end is b/c of ourselves,,if it ends in 2012 then it ends,,but no one knows but God

  10. Now hang on a second... we're gonna let some calendar made by lazy Mayans decide this? OF COURSE THEIR CALENDAR HAS TO END AT SOME DATE, what the **** be logical... they had to have an end for their calendar, maybe the Mayan who made the calendar said, "You know what... there's enough days on here for a while, I'll just wait until it's time to add more" Jesus some people are so stupid. FOR GOD'S SAKE LOOK AT OUR CALENDARS. Say for the sake of an example something happens to OUR great civilization and everyone is wiped out except for some people and they have to repopulate the world, meanwhile they lose much of their intelligence and the Human culture language and everything else must be rebuilt, now say they do rebuild it and now the year is 2356, they uncover a strange reliv from the year 2008 and it happens to be some kind of time keeping thing... BUT WHAT'S THIS! Oh my goodness no the year ends in 2400! OH NOOOOOO.

Listen. A calendar has to end because there is no number for infinity nor no need for one on a calendar, plus calendars spaces are limited unless you want an infinity number of pages which is neither practical nor possible... get real.

Plus I think this already happened in Y2K which, as you can see we're all still here today. :)

  11. I think people are too nihilistic about there lives and make up excuses for the end of the world.  Your world ends when you die.  So maybe you might die by some accident that year but it would be an accident not pre-dated by some calender.
