Question:

Ok so i have a male beta... if i would sometime want a female beta would it be wrong to just add it in?

or do they have to be together from the start?

And do males enjoy have females around?

lastly would they most def mate?

  1. You can't just add a female Betta to a male Betta the male would kill it the only time you can add a female is if both are ready to mate and then the female will for sure get beat up as well so if you want a female for mating you will need a separate tank for the female  


  2. only add the female when they are to breed then remove her after they are done or the male will kill her

  3. Definately wrong to add it in.  Males need to be housed by themselves or in a small community tank with non-aggressive fish.  

    They are difficult to breed, (like previously mentioned), and can only be kept together for short periods of time.  Even then it's not guaranteed that they will mate, because not all pairs get along well enough to mate for even that short period of time.

  4. They will kill each other. Unless both are ready to breed.
