  1. I have to agree with the other answers..it is a hemipenal prolapse.  My daughter volunteers at a local reptile rescue center and has seen it happen many times with animals that are brought in.  In fact, we had it happen a few months ago with our bearded dragon.  You need to call a vet ASAP!!  Since it is now outside of the body, it is open to all sorts of injuries and infections.  It will eventually lead to a slow, painful death.

  2. DO NOT TRY TO GET IT OFF!  That is his s*x organ, and its been injured.  It appears quite swollen, and I imagine he's in a lot of pain.  He needs a vet asap.

If you don’t already know of a qualified exotics/reptile vet in your area, google: “Herpetological Society” -or-

http://www.herpvetconnection.com/  for the one closest to you.

Keep them separated, and get your turtle to the vet as soon as you can.  He is in pain.  To transport him, put him in a bowl he can't move around much in on wet paper towels (1/4"-1/2" water in bowl).

This is not the time for it, but when you have time check out this link for behavior:

    http://redearslider.com/unusual_behavior...

You might be able to put them together again once he heals if they are in a much larger tank than one they have now, but it is doubtful.  Once they start fighting, they seldom stop.

I hope he recovers soon, and I hope this has been of help.

  3. Oh my goodness! You don't not want to "get it off", that is a prolapse! You need to take him to a vet immediately! This is not something that will go away on its own and he will die in a VERY short time. He cannot pass waste right now and he will get "backed up" which will be a very horrible death. That poor little guy!
