Ok this is kinda gross..but should the stuff in my belly button smell????

ok so i have no clue why i was messing with my belly button it may have something to do with my pregnancy hehe any how there was hard crusty stuff in it so i cleaned it out and then dried out my belly button and later that night i was doing it again and noticed slimy stuff in my belly button...and it had a foul smelling oder...why would that happen does anyone know?

Yes, what you discovered was probably a little bit of pus.  It's not uncommon for small cysts to form in the belly button.

The crusty stuff is usually just an accumulation of skin cells and sweat.  It's normal for that stuff to smell pretty nasty, too.  Just clean your navel out regularly.  You don't need to be worried unless it becomes painful or unless there is a color to the discharge.

You might have an infection in your belly button, or you might of had a little boil, infected hair follicle or a pimple which popped. I would continue to keep cleaning out your belly button, and if you develop any other bothersome systems or it becomes worse I would mention it to your ob/gyn on you next visit.

im not sure why it happens but it happened to me and it kinda smelled yucky. never found out what it was.

its because you picked out a scab and now its trying to heal ( hense the slimy stuff). and as for the odor its because theres no fresh air getting too it so its just going to smell. don't pick at it, it'll only take longer to heal. i know this because i had the same problem. best thing is to clean with an ear bud and wash it out with soap in the shower and just let it heal.

it happened to me when my friend poked me really hard on my stomach and he got me right the belly button ohh it hurt so bad!

Your personal hygiene needs some attention. I'm not being rude, but cleaning ones belly button is essential like washing behind your ears and those other hard to get at places. You may want to check with your doctor as well, I know of a person who had gotten an infection in the belly button.

just clean it out with a q-tip and some peroxide and then put some antibiotic cream in it i have had this happen a couple times and that has always worked for me
