Question:

Ok to drop football after touchdown?

I see people doing this after getting a touchdown; just dropping the ball at the end zone for the referee to run and get.

Is this ok to do?

  1. will i don't think so, but i don't think they know they did that, since they just scored a TD and are doing a celebration after it

  2. yeah

  3. You are going to make me run and get the ball?  Then later you'll be begging me for that defensive pass interference call, right?

If you start acting like you're an NFL superstar and dropping the rock like it's hot several things could happen.

    1) Nothing

    2) The ref will tell you to hand the ball to him next time

    3) You'll get nailed for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty if the ref feels you're doing it to attract attention to yourself or taunt your opponent.

Which of those things is going to happen?  Who knows, it depends on the ref.  I'd probably tell you to save it for when you're playing on Sundays and hand the ball to me next time.  Go celebrate with the other 10 guys who busted their butts so you could get to the end zone.

I hate to throw unsportsmanlike flags, but I hate seeing unsportsmanlike acts even more.

  4. Yeah, why wouldnt it be?  If he already scored, there's no reason to hang on to it anymore.

  5. Well...it depends, if your playing Youth(Kindergarden-8th Grade) then its not okay to do...

But if your playing high school you should be able to...

Dunno about college but the NFL yeah you can do it.
