Ok what is it really?

I am just wondering what it really is. What is spotting? and how do you know if you have that inseatd of a period? or does spotting occur just after a period? What does it look like? anything from a nurse would be great

  1. Spotting is much much lighter than a period. Sometimes it's so light that it doesn't show up on your underwear and you can only see it when you wipe. Other times you may need to wear a thin panty liner. It's also often more brown than heavy period blood.

    Spotting can come before or after a period, or sometimes in the middle of a cycle (unrelated to your period). Some women may have light spotting instead of a heavy period if their period is being effected by hormones, stress or other factors.
