  1. The first thing to check is the fluid level. You may want to just get the fluid changed if it's been at least 25,000 miles since new or it was last done. Better sooner than later. They can check for leaks at that time. A transmission should never lose fluid in normal operation. Leaks are usually simple to fix. Don't delay!

  2. check the fluid, if its full time to invest in a rebuilt transmission

  3. dont know what kind of car you have but sounds like it could be a transmission shift solenoid thats gone bad.  My brother had a car that when you were at a stop then stepped on the gas it jerked all at once.  They replaced a shift solenoid or a shift valve in his -- after that the car did just fine.

  4. make sure the car is on a level surface the engine is runing and the transmision is in park. pull the dip stick for the trans out, wipe it clean then insert it back where you pulled it from then pull it out again and read the fluid level, it sounds very much like its low on fluid even being down as little as a pint makes a big difference, in the event you find it to be full look at the colour of the fluid it should be red if you find it to be brown and have a burnt smell you will need a mecanic to assist you but if you just had it rebuilt a year ago it is probably just low fluid or a dirty filter good luck.
