  1. No.  For one, your friend is living in a house, has gas, electric, water, food, clothing, education, etc.  Who is paying for all of this?  The mother!  The mother is probably also paying for a car-payment, car insurance, health insurance, property taxes, etc.

Tell YOUR friend to stop being greedy and get a JOB if she wants some shoes that cost over $60!  Then, your friend will know what it is like to EARN something instead of being given things!!!!

  2. Nope, it goes to the MOTHER, and she can spend it on whatever she wants. It is supposed to HELP out with bills, clothes, food, etc.

  3. 16 yrs old could get a job.

  4. Child support is whatever the guardian decides where the money should be spent. It does not mean she has the right to this money. Child support is just what it says, support, housing, medical, food, clothing etc... A 16 year old girl has no clue what to do with money. That is why it is left up to the parent how this money should be spent to help insure that she is taken care of.

  5. ALL of the money of child support is supposed to be for the "child."  But that doesn't mean the money should physically be handed to the minor, at all.  Sounds like those involved are idiots and are not working in the best interest of the minor, though.

  6. Uh, no.  The check is intended to provide for the care of the child, not to line the pockets of the mother nor to line the pockets of the 16 year old child.  As long as the mother is using the money appropriately she is not doing anything wrong.  If your friend wants to get her hands on some money your friend needs to ask either their father or mother for some, but don't expect to get half.

  7. Her mother controls the money.  Period.  It is being spent on the child, in the form of food, clothing, a roof over her head, medical, etc etc.  Doesn't matter if mom is remarried and her husband is Bill Gates, this is the money that dad contributes to the child's support.

The fact mom denies the girl some items means she is probably doing a good job bringing the kid up.  If she feels the girl needs new shoes, I'm sure she'll buy them.  Letting someone have what they want just because they want it, teaches a bad lesson.

A 16 yr old doesn't have the skills to control the money herself, it always goes to the mother.

  8. the Child support is for the care of the child, that includes rent, food , cloths, medical emergency's, if your Friend is 16 she is old enough to get a job and work . That money goes to the main provider ,now when she gets into college she can take her half of the support she wont be living with mom anymore. Then that is only if the state she lives in requires that child support is payed threw college

  9. Child support is for the care of the child.

Not for the mother to use on herself.
