How is the place so warm and sunny being that is so far away from the equator? Are the beaches nice?

  1. The Okanagan Valley is actually classified as a desert by the amount of rainfall we get each year. We can get relatively cold in the winter, -15-20 C, and Big White has awesome skiing. During the summer, it is not uncommon to see 35-40 C weather. The beaches are nice, not as sandy as tropical beaches, but nice none the less. Some lakes, such as Kalamalka, are beautiful lakes. At this time of year, it is easy to snow ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon. The biggest lake, Lake Okanagan, home of Ogopogo (lol) can take until July to warm up to the 20 C degree mark. But some of the smaller lakes are nice earlier than that. No more than an hour in any direction, often less, takes you into some of the nicest wilderness around. Great camping fishing, etc.

  2. I don't think it is much different than most of the Summer temperatures across Canada other than excluding the coastal areas are cooler with the Ocean influence.

Yes, the beaches there are great.  But depending on where you come from, the water is relatively cold.

  3. Contrary to myth, Canada is not an ice covered glacier. There are parts of Ontario that are further south than some parts of California.

As for the beaches, yes, they are nice. It gets very hot during the summer (roughly 42 to 44C) months, so bring your sunscreen!
