  1. It's like a Tivo.  You select what you want to watch from a program guide.  You also setup to record favorite shows and the box figures out how to do it.

I told my box to record all New episodes of:

    South park

    ER

    CSI

    Bones

    Criminal Minds

    Simpsons

I never have to worry about when new episodes are coming on - the PVR records the new shows for me automatically.

I also never worry about being home to watch a favorite show - they are all recorded for when I have time.

It will change the way you watch & use TV. (I kid you not)

  2. PVR..Personal video recorder. It records, pauses, rewinds and forwards live TV.

example: your watching a movie on one of the channels, the door bell rings, you hit pause go answer, come back hit play again.

example 2. watching the Simpson's, commercial comes on, you hit fast forward to skip it.

example three: there the one movie you missed a month ago coming on again and your not going to miss it, but oops you forgot your working when it comes on. AHHH no problem I'll set the pvr to record it for me when I'm at work and watch it when ever i want to. then your come home to watch it and d**n the door bell rang, pause it go answer it, come back and hit play, oh no a commercial came on, hit fast forward to skip it, and right back to the movie.  :)

btw they should work on both SD and HD

  3. like troy said it let's you pause, record, or rewind TV

As for HD, you have to get the box that is capable of hdtv (which is a little extra) in order to watch or record in hd.
