Okay, I am 17 and I am gonna open up my own bank account but not sure what type of account to open????

so yeah, what type of an account should I open up because I want to transfer that money onto the debit card which I will soon get...

  1. I'm pretty sure you need too be 18 to open anything other then a savings. You should really check into it.

    Though you are with a parents name on it as well


  2. Most banks offer  "student" type checking accounts for young people.  A lot of banks will only open such accounts for folks under 18...so you may not have a choice.  Each bank is differemt...Google the ones you are interested in, and see what they offer...what their regulations are...etc...

  3. Checking account for paying bills and debit card purchases.

    AND

    Savings account to save for car, school, emergencies, etc.

Well you will need a checking to be able to use a debit card so tha should be the first account.  You should also open up a savings account to save up some money.  so that in the future you can purchase something you really want.  At least when you put money in the savings account you cant use the money unless you transfer it to ckings or w/draw it from an ATM or bank
